Villarosa shared her experience as a writer and journalist covering race, inequality, and health. As a young journalist, I was told these words. During an interview with a visibly ill young woman, Villarosa lifted the curtain that usually concealed her emotions. But Villarosa wrote the story with the curtain firmly back in place, unable to access her feelings while simultaneously coping with the sober nature of the story. Neither the mother nor the baby made it to publication the following year. Looking back, Villarosa now thinks she could have written a stronger piece as a professional if she had allowed herself to tap into her emotions as a person.

You do not have to socially distance from people in your household. However, you will all need to self-isolate if one of you tests positive for COVID, and in some other circumstances. See the keeping you safe and well page for more information about testing and self-isolation. Your College will endeavour to offer a suitable catering service within current restrictions with an emphasis on supporting students with access to cooked meals in a socially-distanced setting. Where dining halls are open it will be with a reduced capacity to allow appropriate social distancing.
A developing theme in corporate governance is the extent to which public corporations are expected to play a positive role in society. This is not the first time that corporations have been urged to play a greater public role. During the s, however, this managerialist paradigm gave way to an essentially private conception of the business organization, which quickly became the dominant corporate law paradigm. A variety of recent international corporate governance developments that emphasize corporate culture suggest that the pendulum is again swinging toward a more public conception of the corporation, as a social, rather than a merely economic, entity. However, recent corporate history provides numerous examples of corporate scandals involving communal activity that falls well short of providing benefit to society. Scandals, such as the Wells Fargo fraudulent accounts scandal among others, epitomize the damage that flawed corporate cultures can inflict on stakeholders, communities, trust and corporate reputation. Legal regimes need to respond adequately to serious corporate wrongdoing. The study explores liability for defective corporate cultures through the lens of legal theory. It examines these forms of liability from a comparative perspective, focusing on the legal regimes in the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia. Visit our partner site:.
